I didn’t choose this mission. It chose me.
It chose me in a third-grade classroom, the moment my vision blurred and the world went silent. I was eight years old, confused and terrified. I stood up to ask for help… and collapsed.
That day marked the beginning of a journey that would define my life. It was a journey of pain, confusion, and profound loneliness. But ultimately, it became a journey of purpose. As we mark June as Migraine and Headache Awareness Month, I want to share my story. Because if you’ve lived any piece of this, it’s your story, too. And you are not alone.
An Invisible Illness in a Third-Grade Classroom
After I collapsed, I was rushed to the hospital. They ran tests. They checked vitals. Everything came back “normal.” There was no diagnosis, no explanation. Just fear.
That was my first encounter with a reality that millions of people with migraine know all too well: the agony of an invisible illness. It’s the specific pain of being told you’re fine when you know, deep in your bones, that you are not. Migraine is not just a headache; it’s a complex neurological disease that can be profoundly disabling. Yet for so many, the experience is dismissed, their pain invalidated.
Throughout my teens and twenties, the attacks were sporadic but disruptive. I did what so many of us do: I managed. I coped. I learned to live around the pain, missing out on school days, parties, and family events. I built a life in the spaces the pain left for me.
When “Managing” Becomes “Surviving”
Then, in my thirties, everything changed. I was in a grocery store on an ordinary day when the familiar, dreaded sensations began. Tunnel vision. Dizziness. Then, darkness. I collapsed again, this time in the middle of the aisle.
After that day, my migraines became chronic. Daily. Every single day since, I’ve experienced migraine symptoms in some form. Some days are bearable. Many are brutal. But they are never-ending.
My life became a blur of doctor’s appointments. I saw over 25 specialists—neurologists, cardiologists, functional medicine experts. I tried every FDA-approved medication, every wearable device, every alternative therapy imaginable. Some treatments dulled the symptoms, but most of them dulled me. I became a shadow of myself: tired, disconnected, frustrated, and deeply alone.
This experience is tragically common. The mental and emotional toll of chronic migraine is immense. Studies show that people with migraine are up to five times more likely to develop depression and significantly more likely to suffer from anxiety. The constant worry about the next attack, the guilt of canceling plans, and the feeling of being a burden can create a devastating cycle of pain and despair. I was living in that cycle, and I was desperate for a way out.
The Search for an Answer in a Fragmented System
I kept searching for a roadmap, a system, a sign that someone out there understood what this really felt like. But what I found were fragments. A supplement here, a device there. Conflicting advice and confusing data. Each doctor I saw specialized in their own corner of the puzzle, but no one was looking at the whole picture. No one was treating the person behind the pain.
The entire system seemed to treat migraine like a checkbox on a chart, not the whole-body, whole-life experience it truly is. No one said, “Let’s understand your body, your triggers, your lifestyle. Let’s build something around YOU.”
And that’s when I realized: maybe I wasn’t supposed to find the answer. Maybe I was meant to build it.
If I was struggling this much—with the time, resources, and access to try everything—then how many others were out there suffering silently? How many people were still waiting to be seen, heard, and believed?
Our Mission: A Companion for Your Journey
That’s the day Aevere was born.
Aevere isn’t just a product or a brand. It’s a mission. It’s the answer I was searching for all those years. It’s a wellness system built by someone who has lived it, not just studied it. We started by creating a system that combines science-backed physical tools—like magnesium body butter and FL-41 glasses—with the power of digital support.
The goal was to create a comprehensive companion for this journey. An AI-powered app that helps you understand your migraines, track your symptoms, and discover your unique patterns is the next evolution of this mission. Because managing migraine requires a holistic view. It requires tracking your sleep, your stress, your nutrition, and your environment to finally connect the dots and regain a sense of control.
This isn’t about a miracle cure. It’s about a smarter way to heal. A way that puts you—your data, your story, your life—at the center of the solution.
You Are Not Alone This Migraine Awareness Month
Pain led me here, but purpose is what keeps me going. My story is just one of millions. There are people who miss their child’s soccer game, who fear making plans with friends, who struggle to hold a job because of this disease. There are people who, like me, have felt misunderstood, dismissed, and alone.
This Migraine Awareness Month, my message is simple: We see you. We believe you. And we’re with you.
If this helps one more person feel a little less alone, a little more understood, and a whole lot more hopeful, then every step of this journey was worth it.
Your story deserves to be heard, and your pain deserves to be validated. Aevere is more than just tools; it’s a community. Explore our resources, start tracking your patterns with the Aevere app, and join a community that truly understands. You don’t have to do this alone.
